What is a gîte?
In France, holiday cottages and accommodation is classified in different ways.
The word ‘gîte’ is commonly accepted as being a self-contained holiday cottage, but actually has a few rules to follow to be classed officially as such.
To fully explain the classification, we will have an article on our blog, but basically, we, the owners, live on site, and are able to ‘greet you, welcome you, and be on hand in case you need anything.’
This is the largest, most important part of the classification process – and we qualify!
This doesn’t mean that we will disturb your holiday privacy – we certainly won’t do that – but we will be here to give you advice, should you need it, about the best places to shop, visit, eat at and avoid.
